After your Meadowbrook Assessment, these tests may be recommended for targeted program design or used to check progress of the program.

Structure of Intellect (SOI) identifies both strong and weak areas that underlie academic learning.

Brief History:

The origins of SOI theory start back during World War II. Candidates for pilot training in the new Army Air Corp were selected by their I.Q. The belief was that if people had a high I.Q., then they could learn how to fly planes. The Army was surprised by the dropout rate from pilot school and hired Dr. Guilford to raise the retention and graduation rates of pilots. He started by testing and observing those candidates that did well and then taught those skills to the other candidates. Through his experiences he determined that  Intellect has a structure and by learning skills performance is increased.

If your child or student is bright but struggling in one or more areas SOI will identify those foundational weaknesses and  then  design a personal workbook full of exercises needed to bring their learning ability up to the norm for their age or grade level.

Meadowbrook offers group SOI Testing to schools or organizations and to individuals.

Individual tests can be taken in person or on a computer.

Learning Ability: Form L (Group) K-3rd  OR  Primary Learning Abilities Test (Individual Computer Test)

  • Pitch discrimination
  • Visual and auditory motor-timing
  • Choice reaction time
  • Frequency pattern
  • Duration pattern
Grades Primer – 9th grade.

We use this inventory to check pre-program and post-program general reading skills.

We look for accuracy and comprehension by grade level.

What we must know to succeed in academics: how to look at, think about, and remember information.
